U.S. officials are investigating whether Russia was directly involved in the gas attack in Syria which led to Thursday’s air strikes, they revealed today.
Senior military officials said Russia has failed to control the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons.
And they said a drone belonging either to Russia or Syria was seen hovering over the site of the chemical weapons attack Tuesday after it happened.
The move came as Donald Trump‘s ambassador to the United Nations warned there could be ‘more’ action against Syria – and called the Tomahawk strikes ‘fully justified’.
She spoke amid escalating tension with Russia, telling the Security Council that firing the missiles was ‘in our vital national security interest’.
‘We are prepared to do more, but we hope that will not be necessary,’ she told the U.N. Security Council.
